A Career Built on Expertise & Dedication

Dr Gupta’s passion for ophthalmology emerged early in his medical career, giving him a clear sense of purpose that has shaped every step of his professional journey. He completed his foundational ophthalmology training at JIPMER, India, one of the subcontinent’s most prestigious medical institutions, before relocating to Singapore to pursue specialist training in ophthalmology.

Dr Gupta completed Advanced Specialist Training in Ophthalmology at Singapore National Eye Centre. He undertook further sub-specialist training in both Neuro-ophthalmology and Medical Retina, equipping him with a depth of clinical knowledge and surgical skill that few practitioners achieve. This dual specialisation places him among a select group of ophthalmologists who can manage both complex retinal disease and disorders of the visual pathway with equal confidence.

In 2018, the beauty, spirit and work-life balance of our coveted Aotearoa drew Dr Gupta and his family to New Zealand, a choice they continue to feel deeply grateful for. He feels privileged to be a part of the beautiful community and also be able to provide world-class ophthalmological care to Auckland and the wider region!
